Safer Streets for Wellington - Not in Newtown - Time for a Change

Just had a long black with the wonderful crew at Black Coffee on Riddiford Street in Newtown. Their coffee sure packs a punch!

Paige has run this inclusive community space for the last 8 years. I witnessed firsthand how incredibly kind she is to the ‘wanderers’ that drops in. Safety, however, has become a real issue in the community, specifically around the rough sleepers and the beggars who target the ATMs. Sometimes people are intimidated into giving money.

This kind of behaviour is not acceptable. I believe peope deserve to feel safe and the Council should use the bylaws to move these people on.
