No Country for the Over 50s

A sobering read regarding the financial strife our seniors are facing.
Wellington’s over 65s increased by 30% over the last 20 years.
The main concern for seniors is, you might have guessed it, money worries: cost of living pressures (68%) insufficient savings (59%) and healthcare expenses (54%) are the biggest factors affecting well-being, with 70% feeling uncertain about their financial future and nearly two-thirds fretting about their current situation.
The most compassionate thing the council can do now is to do less. It should focus its energy and resources on fixing what is broken, maintaining what matters and invest wisely in our future. We simply cannot keep on asking people for more.
